At RAW-i Studios we have always tried to be upbeat about the use of technology to support the engagement in art and artistic endeavours. Online learning has many benefits – not least the flexibility of when the learning can occur. During the early part of this decade we, as a society, are facing up to some serious issues. Isolation and social distancing negates the physical face to face sessions that are so often craved for when trying to immerse oneself in a creative moment. These testing times have revealed many things, but perhaps one stands out, the use of technology can link us closely so that those moments desired are not lost.
Over the last 12 weeks we have been coming to terms with the reality of isolation. As schools are making tentative steps to reopen for some students and universities push more of their content through virtual learning environments a new norm will be fledged. We believe that Art and the action of engaging with Art doesn’t have to be stymied by these circumstances. We are developing a series of engagement measures for students of all ages to continue, develop and expand their creative potential.
The online sessions will be conducted from my studio in Chester. We are using the ‘Zoom’ platform for video conferencing. Once you have signed up an email invitation will be sent that contains the details of the sessions and any software you might need to have downloaded. The invitation will also add the recurring date to your calendars (this will need your action to permit). With reminders in place hopefully each student will be present for the entire programme.
*(Each session lasts 40 minutes)
