RAW-i Studios is based in the North West and is dedicated in supporting our local communities. We have found, through our teaching, that it is not just adults that enjoy the various mediums available to express their art. Children too have an intimate creative dialogue that requires nurturing. At RAW-i Studios we have created a range of opportunities to develop the ‘budding’ artist. Local landmarks will be used as a focus for a three hour ‘in the landscape’ creative interpretation. Your children will be involved in gaining first hand experience of the fundamental skills required by any proficient Artist. All the courses support the KS1 and KS2 guidelines for developing Art & Design in school. This is a perfect opportunity for your child to really harness their talents and develop the budding artist.
When we enter the landscape to learn something, we are obligated, I think, to pay attention rather than constantly to pose questions. To approach the land as we would a person, by opening an intelligent conversation. And to stay in one place, to make of that one, long observation a fully dilated experience. We will always be rewarded if we give the land credit for more than we imagine, and if we imagine it as being more complex even than language. In these ways we begin, I think, to find a home, to sense how to fit a place. [Barry Lopez – Arctic Dreams]
‘Walking in the canopy’
Walking, within the Delamere woodland, we’ll be exploring our imaginations through direct observation and group discussion to engage in all elements. We will be focussing on small spaces, pattern, texture and light.
‘In the shadow of dragons’
Located high on an ancient outcrop of sandstone – Beeston Castle commands a view worthy of any dragons’ eye. We will be engulfed by light, colour and space. Through sharing and collaboration we will balance our imagination. We will focus on feeling, shape, form and space.
‘Skies and Tides’
The ebb and flow at Thurstaston beach will be where the constant movement of the visual boundaries of the sky, land and sea will be observed. We will focus on the use of line, tone and contrasts in exploring our feelings of such a dynamic landscape.
